Cross-belt sorting system is composed of a main drive belt conveyor and a trolley (referred to as "trolley") carrying a small belt conveyor. When the trolley moves to the specified sorting position, the belt is rotated to complete the task of sorting and sending out goods. Because the main drive belt conveyor and the belt conveyor on the "trolley" are cross-shaped, there are three main ways to arch the cross-belt sorter: automatic bag supply, manual semi-automatic bag supply and manual bag supply.

Based on the comprehensive analysis of sorting machine's processing capacity, equipment investment, number of personnel, efficiency of package supply and requirements for packages, it is found that the projects that do not require high workload of the whole system and are sensitive to equipment investment are suitable for manual package supply, and the separation of front-end goods and packages is ideal, while the projects that require high efficiency of package supply are suitable for automatic package supply. In the previous stage, the goods and packages are stacked, and the overall efficiency of the sorting machine is not reduced. You can choose manual semi-automatic package supply. The manual semi-automatic package supply system is composed of an automatic package supply platform and a manual delivery station, which can be divided into two ways: single-station delivery and double-station delivery according to the form of manual delivery station.

Manual package supply means that the operator puts the package label face up and directly puts it in the center of the sorting trolley to complete the package supply. The efficiency of manual package supply is affected by the speed of operation of operators and the idle degree of online trolleys. Usually, the efficiency of a single operator is 1,000-1,200 pieces/hour (continuous package supply for 1 hour). Due to manual thread-feeding, the trolley cannot run too fast, and the upper limit of speed is 1.5m/s, which will affect the overall efficiency of the sorter.

The automatic package supply system consists of a package supply control computer, a plurality of wrapping belts, an AC motor, a dynamic weight scale, a photoelectric position detection switch, a light curtain and a bar code reader. The package supply control computer controls the frequency converter and AC motor to rotate the package supply belt, and accurately delivers the package to the sorting trolley. The weight dynamic scale, photoelectric detection switch and light curtain measure the weight and position of the package respectively, and collect these data so that the package can be wrapped accurately.
